Tamara Chaplin is a scholar of Contemporary France, gender, sexuality, and the media and Associate Professor of Modern European History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Chaplin’s first book explored the televising of philosophy in postwar France. Her second monograph, Cabarets to Counterpublics: Female Same-Sex Intimacy and the French Public Sphere, 1930-2013, will be published by the University of Chicago Press in 2021.
