The Meditation Student Organization (MSO) is a peer-led group offering students, faculty, and staff at the University of Illinois an open and non-judgmental space to practice meditation. The founders of the group are graduate students who hope to maintain and strengthen our own meditation practice, while at the same time making meditation more accessible to the campus community. Whether you are seeking a space to deepen your spiritual practice or you are simply curious about meditation, all are welcome. There is no need to have any meditation experience to attend the group. We invite you to begin where you are.
If you are interested in meditation instruction, please join us right at 5:30pm for a brief guided meditation every other week (note: click the Join Us section of the website for details). The meditation instruction is often roughly based on the Buddhist Insight (Vipassana) Meditation tradition, although our members come from diverse traditions and we do not represent only one style or tradition. Everyone, regardless of religious affiliation, is welcome to participate in these meditation opportunities.
