Between the world wars, Chicago Race women nurtured a local, yet widely resonant Black classical music community entwined with Black civic life. Samantha Ege will be in conversation with Frank Villella on her book, South Side Impresarios: How Race Women Transformed Chicago's Classical Music Scene and to share stories of the Black women whose creativity, perseverance, and energy transformed Chicago’s South Side into a wellspring of classical music making.

Samantha Ege is an award-winning researcher and musicologist, internationally recognized concert pianist, popular public speaker, and author of South Side Impresarios: How Race Women Transformed Chicago's Classical Music Scene.
Frank Villella is Director, Rosenthal Archives of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association and has been a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association’s Rosenthal Archives’ staff since 1993.
