Workshop Description:
Drawing on extensive conversations with curators, collectors, and artists, African Art Reframed: Reflections and Dialogues on Museum Culture proposes new methods for interpreting African art inside and outside of museums and remixing the results. This two-part workshop will introduce students to the book’s major theoretical contributions: a nodal model of museum classification and the practice of digital unmixing. Students will gain tools for understanding and appreciating African art, as well as applied techniques for reflecting upon their own museum experiences.
