Krannert Art Museum is proud to partner with Visual Aids for Day With(out) Art 2023 by presenting Everyone I Know Is Sick, a program of five new videos generating connections between HIV and other forms of illness and disability. Inspired by a statement from Cyrée Jarelle Johnson in the book Black FuturesEveryone I Know Is Sick examines how our society excludes disabled and sick people by upholding a false dichotomy of health and sickness. Inviting us to understand disability as a common experience rather than an exception to the norm, the program highlights a range of experiences spanning HIV, COVID, mental health, and aging. The commissioned artists foreground the knowledge and expertise of disabled and sick people in a world still grappling with multiple ongoing pandemics.

The program features new work by Dolissa Medina & Ananias P. Soria, Dorothy Cheung, Beau Gomez, Kurt Weston, and Hiura Fernandes & Lili Nascimento. It is stunningly beautiful and moving!

Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2
10:00am – 4:00pm
Krannert Art Museum auditorium

This is a looping presentation of five videos that can be joined at any time.

A day of mourning and action that uses art to respond to the ongoing HIV and AIDS crisis, Day With(out) Art encourages museums, universities, museums, and art institutions to present related programming on or around December 1, World AIDS Day. Because AIDS is not over.
