Abstract:

Data science has nearly unlimited potential but is often only as valuable as the story you are able to tell. This talk will briefly present classical ideas in data visualization, share a collection of published creations that incorporate those ideas, and present a vision for an undergraduate experience in Data Science at Illinois with a significant emphasis on providing meaningful research and discovery opportunities for students.
