Women@NCSA invites and encourages you to join us Wednesday, April 13th from 2-3 p.m. on Zoom for our April event featuring Sociology Professor Mia Hardy in a presentation titled "Reframing the Conversation: Black Is Not a Monolith."
This event intends to spark an important, meaningful conversation around racism and the unique lived experiences of Black people. Framing Black as a monolith is dismissive and fails to acknowledge class, skin tone, and other forms of privilege in communities. The main object of this event is to dismantle racial biases surrounding the Black community and explore various ways to show Blackness and how it contributes to a greater community. Despite the vast array of cultural/ethnic backgrounds and lived experiences in the African Diaspora, each Black person is united by how their skin is interpreted in America. Join us in this conversation as we reframe the Black narrative and break barriers.
