Join Women@NCSA on Wednesday, May 1 from 1:30-2:30pm in room 1040 for a talk by Rachel Switzky. Beginning June 18, Rachel Switzky will be the inaugural director of the Siebel Center for Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Rachel holds two degrees in industrial design from the UI and worked with a broad range of professions as an executive at the global design firm IDEO in San Francisco. She most recently served on the leadership team of IDEO's 150-person studio in Palo Alto, Calif., managing a multimillion-dollar design portfolio. In between her stints at the UI, Switzky worked for two years at Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, doing exhibition design. Before joining IDEO in 2007, she worked in several capacities for the interactive agency Razorfish. She is a global design leader with strong operational skills in working with Fortune 100 companies over the past 20 years. She helps teams to imagine futures and then puts them into action, focusing on digital design, emergent technologies and impact at-scale.
