- "Why did I eat that? Alterations in brain and behavior that contribute to obesity"
Dr. Ferrario’s research draws on concepts from the addiction, learning, and glutamate plasticity fields to examine the neurobiological mechanisms of food cravings, and how these are influenced by consumption of sugary, fatty, “junk-food” diets and individual susceptibility to obesity. She will discuss how alterations in excitatory transmission within the brain's reward pathway influence food craving, and how these alterations may contribute to over-eating and weight gain.Additional information about her lab and recent publications can be found here: https://sites.google.com/a/umich.edu/ferrariolab/(link is external)
