Drawing on her recent book, The Heartland (an NPR best book of the year), Professor Kristin Hoganson challenges perceptions of the rural Midwest as quintessentially local prior to World War I. This talk is part of ongoing programming associated with the Songs of Solidarity: The 1985 Farm Aid Concert Exhibit.
