This presentation seeks to motivate Western audiences toward a deeper understanding of Middle Eastern music. Participants will gain new insights into the beauty and expression of Arabic maqams and traditional rhythmic structures. The workshop incorporates music listening and live music demonstrations to help increase awareness of this seminal musical genre.
