Join us for a lecture by Adam Newman, assistant professor and co-director of graduate studies in the Department of Religion at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He concentrates on the religious traditions of South Asia, with a particular emphasis on Hinduism in north India. Broadly, he is interested in religious conceptions of the body in ritual and narrative literature, sacred space and landscapes, and the relationship between political power and religious authority in early South Asian history.
