Free copies of Elizabeth Acevedo's novels "Poet X" and "Clap When You Land" are available to pick up at La Ventanita starting next week, September 15 at La Ventanita at La Casa Cultural Latina, 1203 W. Nevada, Urbana.  The first 30 students can pick up a free book on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10-12pm at La Ventanita at La Casa!

On Monday, September 28, 6-7:30pm, the Department of Latina/Latino Studies will be hosting a pre-event discussion of the themes in Elizabeth Acevedo's books including themes of race, transnationalism, identity, body image, and family. Regardless of whether you have read Acevedo's books, we invite you to join us for this pre-event discussion. Bring your experiences and perspectives and share your thoughts!
