Professor Cervantes, under his artistic name Vicente de Cervantes, will be debuting his new performance, titled Hay muertos que no hacen ruido, on April 16th at 8pm CST, sponsored by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Due to our current stay-at-home situations, Prof. Cervantes will be debuting this performance as a “virtual performance” with a live stream to both Facebook and YouTube. As a performance artist, in his own words, he “strives to bring together the aesthetics and experiences of being brown, queer, and diasporic.” This performance is a tribute to death’s legacy in Mexico and its diasporas, religion, and remembrance through the figure of La Llorona. You may watch this performance live on YouTube at https://youtu.be/Zb2OxEW7SVo and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/vdecervantes/live/

Please, tune in to this historic debut performance of Hay muertos que no hacen ruido [There are dead who don’t make noise].
