Description:  In conjunction with Welcoming Week, the University YMCA’s Friday Forum series will feature a panel on local immigration justice efforts. As the nation faces a growing humanitarian crisis at its Southern border, C-U leaders are working to improve access and equity in education, expand access to legal services, protect unaccompanied minors, and uncover the truth of what is happening at the border.  Hear from the powerful women who are working to make our communities more welcoming and safe for newcomers and immigrants in Champaign County and beyond.

Confirmed Panelists: Dr. Gio Guerra Perez, Assistant Chancellor for Diversity and Academic Inclusive Excellence at the University of Illinois; Gloria Yen, Director of the New American Welcome Center, University YMCA, Dr. Korinta Maldonado, Professor, Department of Anthropology at the University of Illinois (additional panelists TBA.)
