Description:  In this current climate conservative legislators have cited their Christian values to escalate attacks on reproductive rights. But are all religious people opposed to reproductive rights? What does the Bible really have to say about abortion? How can someone be a Christian and support access to abortion? This talk will dive into these questions and more.

About the Speaker: Rev. Katey Zeh is an ordained Baptist minister and an advocate for gender justice. The Center for American Progress named her one of their top justice-seeking faith leaders to watch. Currently Rev. Zeh serves as the interim Executive Director of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. She is also the co-host of the Kindreds podcast and the author of a Women Rise Up: Sacred Stories of Resistance for Today’s Revolution (FAR Press, May 2019), a timely take on the tenacious women of the bible.

This lecture is hosted in partnership with Conversation Café, hosted by Diversity and Social Justice Education, a unit of OIIR at the University of Illinois with additional funding from the Student Cultural Programming Fee.  FREE LUNCH will be available at this talk.
