Dr. Chidi Oguamanam, University Research Chair in Sustainable Bio-Innovation at the University of Ottawa, Canada, will talk about his experiences working with Indigenous Peoples in Canada on issues of biopiracy, access and benefits sharing (ABS) and lessons for and from African and other communities of the Global South. 

Boatema Boateng, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of California San Diego, author of The Copyright Thing Doesn’t Work Here: Adinkra and Kente Cloth and Intellectual Property in Ghana, will talk about the ways in which the indigeneities of Black people in Africa and the diaspora can be understood in relation to each other.
