The talk will provide an overview of the process of drafting the new Chilean Constitution, particularly shedding light on two communications topics: first, the constitutional changes addressing communications, including the public media system, and rights to freedom of expression, and access to information and knowledge; and, second, the public and political communications of the very complex, and high-profile body of the Constitutional Convention (CC). The CC has had a difficult time setting up a communications strategy and it has clashed several times with the communications and media performances of individual members of the CC and their staff, too. A combination of misinformation and problematic performance from some of the members of the CC has contributed to the erosion of trust in the process.
