Desde '74

Desde 74 Mentorship | Desde 74 is La Casa’s mentorship initiative, reintroduced in Fall 2024, and rooted in our longstanding commitment to mentorship since our founding in 1974. Desde 74 approaches mentorship through alumni engagement, first-year mentorship, outreach to future Illini, and the empowerment of our upperclassmen to serve as mentors. While the program has evolved over the years—from the Peer Retention Program in the 80s and 90s to the ACE (Advising, Connecting, Empowering) mentorship program—its foundation in mentorship and student empowerment has remained constant, leading us to reimagine mentoring through Desde 74 welcoming our largest matches of mentors & mentees in 2024-2025.
