Artist: Soyoung Jung

This exhibition, In Between includes painting and collage works spanning from the early years of Jung’s practice to the present. The exhibition centers around the notion of “journey” which has become an ongoing part of her life. The works metaphorically portray her passage between the “home” and the many places that have been “away,” holding onto the quiet, persistent feeling of crossing from one place into another.

Her interest in urban sites such as off-street alleys is grounded in the Korean concept of 공간 (gong-gan)—often translated as “space,” but understood in Korean culture as something shaped by relationships and boundaries.

In Jung’s work, space shifts from the physical to the psychological, becoming a site where emotional and relational dynamics unfold. Through this approach, she invites viewers to move beyond physical space and engage with emotional and psychological experiences.
