Japan House will be open from 12 – 4pm on Friday, December 8 and 11am - 4pm on Saturday, December 9. Please stop by and have a bowl of tea and sweet at our Holiday Matcha Café and browse our holiday sale items!

Shop local and support Japan House programming with our Holiday Sale & Matcha Café! The building will be packed with an incredible array of reasonably-priced Asian-inspired items, such as ceramic pottery, kimono and yukata, origami crafts, handmade items, scarves, scrolls, posters, scrolls, books, prints, chado equipment, jewelry, furniture and more!

Cash, credit cards, and Apple Pay/GoogleWallet are accepted.

All are welcome to stop by without a paid ticket to shop around during open hours - the paid ticket is only if you'd like to pre-order for the Matcha Cafe.

Wrap up the semester with a bowl of freshly-whisked matcha (or matcha latte) and a wagashi (traditional Japanese sweet) as you visit the inside of Japan House. There is no formal tea ceremony offered but guests will be able to still enjoy a bowl of matcha and select one wagashi (traditional Japanese sweet) from three options to enjoy. Wagashi options will be available as first-come, first-serve. All proceeds support Japan House programming!

To ensure a tranquil experience for the café, pre-orders are strongly encouraged. Walk-ins are welcomed but may be limited if the building is at capacity due to high traffic.

All guests will be asked to remove their shoes upon arrival to enter the building, or to use provided shoe covers. Guests are encouraged to bring a fresh pair of socks to wear inside. Please be mindful of large bags, backpacks, and strollers - guests may be asked to leave those at the front to avoid any accidents with items out on display.
