Cardiovascular Disease is the No. 1 killer of all Americans. By funding scientific research, the American Heart Association (AHA) supports those fighting this devastating condition. External defibrillator, implantable pacemakers, and now standard practice of CPR are just a few examples of AHA contribution to saving lives. The AHA is currently funding $1.26M in research here at Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.

To raise awareness about heart disease and AHA, University of Illinois will be participating in the American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Walk on September 15th at 4 p.m. in Porter Park, Champaign (registration begins at 3 pm). The Beckman Institute Employee Wellbeing Committee invites you to walk as the Beckman Institute Team under the University of Illinois, so please join us! The walk is a one-mile loop, that participants will walk 3 times for a (nearly) 5K. It is a free, fun, healthy, and meaningful activity! Families and dogs are very welcome to join!

To register please click here https://www2.heart.org/site/TR?fr_id=4295&pg=entry and select “Register to Walk” to join our Beckman Institute team.

There will be teams from several other Illinois institutes and colleges. We will all wear Beckman or Illinois shirts. Please, contact Elena Romanova romanova@illinois.edu, if you have questions. We hope that you’ll join our team for this fun event for a good cause!
