This lecture by Michael Day, Former Chief Executive, Historical Royal Palaces will cover the 2016 Poppies exhibit at the Tower of London.

 

Michael Day has worked in cultural heritage management since 1974. After several years as Director of the Jersey Heritage Trust, he became Chief Executive of Historic Royal Palaces in 2003, retiring in 2017. HRP is the conservation and education charity that oversees The Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace, Banqueting House Whitehall, and Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland. Michael was on the faculty of the UEA Museum Leadership Programme from 1994-2011, co-directed the Nordic Museum Leadership Programme in Denmark from 2001-08, and has taught in the Clore Cultural Leadership Programme since 2007. He lectures at conferences around the world on cultural leadership, and on historic site management and interpretation. He is chair of the Battersea Arts Centre and serves on the Board of the National Trust. Michael was awarded an honorary doctorate by Kingston University in 2010 for his work in the heritage and museums sector, and was appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in the New Year Honours in 2015.
