This talk provides an overview of the history of Neo-paganism and Heathenry in the United States, before focusing on selected contemporary groups, especially those belonging in the (still ill-defined) alt-right spectrum of mostly internet-based radicals.
How do radical religious movements in the U.S. utilize Northern European culture for their racist, misogynist and environmentalist back-to-the-land agenda? What can the increased visibility of white supremacist Heathens - since Charlottesville - reveal about the cultural and political relevance of Medieval European literature in the United States?
