Institute of Communications Research (ICR) Events, College of Media

The ICR Colloquium Series is an interdisciplinary forum that brings together faculty, researchers, staff, graduate students, and interested undergraduates to engage in dialogue around some of the most relevant and timely research in our field.  The series, while primarily targeting scholars in media and communication, remains open to all members of the community. Each week, invited speakers showcase their ongoing work across diverse topics, paradigms, and methods, creating a space for intellectual exchange and mutual learning.

This week two ICR doctoral students will present their recent work on gender and film, which they shared at major academic conferences this past year. This is part of our effort to encourage students to bring their conference presentations back to the ICR community—to share insights, receive feedback, and reflect on the experience.

Stephanie Pérez (ICR PhD) “Pink Plastic Aesthetics and Platonic Latina Girlfriends in Barbie (2023)”

Jennifer Cintron (ICR PhD), "’The Real Issue is Safety’: The Case of the Electric Lady in the Thriller Strange Darling (2023)”
