College of Media Department of Journalism

With a significant need for professionals to communicate science, discoveries, and innovations to the general public, a flexible hybrid/online program—with a focus on science and technology—will be offered through the journalism master’s degree beginning Fall 2023.

Master of Science in Journalism degree students interested in covering science and technology topics can opt for a focus on Science and Technology Journalism coursework that can be completed entirely online and in as few as two semesters. Journalists and other professional communicators who want to boost their skills are welcome to enroll in online modules as non-degree students.

Learn more about the MS in Journalism: Focus on Science and Technology Journalism program at this virtual information session on Friday, February 17, 3-4 p.m. Central Time. Presenters will be Mira Sotirovic, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Journalism, and Claudia Lutz, PhD, Outreach Manager for the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology.
