As recently as 2014, the United States was reportedly experiencing a "transgender tipping point," one replete with positive signs of visibility and public overtures from the Obama administration. Despite critiques to the contrary, what is now clear is there exists a transgender backlash, and trans people are being used to politically pry apart the liberal/progressive base.
