Engineering Open House (EOH) is an annual two-day event organized entirely by engineering students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. It is held each spring semester, and draws estimated crowds of 35,000 people including students, teachers, parents and families, from all over Illinois and beyond.

Engineering Open House showcases the engineering campus to more than 50,000 visitors each year. It is the largest student-run event at the U of I, and is free and fun for all ages. The Grainger College of Engineering welcomes all alumni to 301 Engineering Hall from 10:00am – 2:00pm on Friday for snacks and a warm place to relax.

Most research agrees that while social media promotes community engagement, it can also increase the spread of misinformation. There is less consensus in the literature on how much, and under what circumstances misinformation spreads. To examine the role of social media in urban design, I use recent dialogue on the addition of a bike lane in Washington DC.
