Over the last 20 years, the number of joint or dual degree programs affording veterinary medical students the opportunity to also receive their master’s in public health has grown dramatically. With over 20 veterinary schools now offering this option, the University of Illinois would like to host all the leaders of these programs and related stakeholders to move the profession of veterinary public health forward together.
Building on previous efforts, the symposium at University of Illinois aims to look at foundational knowledge and best practices in veterinary public health education; DVM/MPH graduate outcomes and careers; and future directions and current gaps in training. As a working symposium, we expect dialogue, brainstorming, and engagement throughout the two-day meeting. The agenda reflects this expectation with plenty of opportunities for small and large group idea exchange.
