This year, we are celebrating 100 years of Rabindranath Tagore's visit to Urbana. Rabindranath Tagore delivered his first lecture in a series on November 10, 1912; this was incidentally his first public lecture in the United States. Our 24th Annual Festival has been scheduled to commemorate that date.
The keynote speaker for the November 10 event is Professor Rebecca Manring (Department of Religious Studies, Indiana University at Bloomington), who is going to speak on 'Tagore and the Unitarians.' A cultural program is being planned, which will precede the catered dinner. We also hope to acquire a copy of Satyajit Ray's documentary 'Rabindranath Tagore,' produced under Government of India's Films Division on the centenary of Tagore's birth (1961), for screening later in the evening.
