Food for Thought, part of the Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relation's Lunch on Us series, is a weekly noontime discussion focused on topics relevant to the Asian American community. Past discussions include topics such as nutrition, mental health, sexual health, and media representation of Asian Americans.
We have invited student leaders from the Indian Graduate Students Association (IGSA) to present about Diwali, which is the Hindu festival lights celebrated every year. In the past, they have educated the audience about why and how it is celebrated by diverse Hindu communities, as well as provided personal stories about the importance of Diwali in regard to their identities and cultures.
