Join Kofi Bazzell-Smith, Manga artist and graduate student in the School of Art & Design's New Media program, and learn techniques for Manga storytelling and drawing.  Kofi brings a rich and varied experience as both a Manga artist and student in Japan.  Kofi is an artist and professional boxer. With a passion for manga, he studied the art form in Japan, becoming fluent in Japanese. Now, he shares his expertise through lectures and workshops on manga, art practice, and cultural exchange across the US and Japan. Kofi's work intersects Japan's globalizing efforts through popular culture and the rising academic interest in comic studies. As an artist-scholar, he aims to champion these movements, publish manga in Japan, and pioneer manga production education in the US.

This hands-on workshop will give you an opportunity to explore the history and culture of Manga as an art form and connect it to your own experiences.  All art supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your favorite pencil.

The event takes place Tuesday, April 2nd from 3-5pm in Room 220 of the Main Library.  Seating is limited to 40, so please register in advance through the link below.
