Professor Sally Engle Merry’s research interests focus on human rights, gender violence and, most recently, how big data indicators have been used as a tool of power to influence global governance practices. Big data sets and the statistical techniques that accompany them have impacted governance, decision-making, and the public’s access to information. Professor Merry will address the implications of the “big data” revolution on contemporary social life and global governance. See the MillerCom lecture event page.
