Agent (Individual) Based Modelling has become a more commonly applied technique for wildlife biologists and ecologists during the past four decades. However, this approach emphasis on computer programming skills differs from the traditional training (focus on frequentist statistics) most people in those discipline receive. I will provide examples I have developed throughout my career of how I combine field experiment with Agent Based Modeling to gain insights into the landscape level implications of animal behavior. My goal is to illustrate the value of ABM techniques as complimentary to the way most of us are trained to conduct our research.
