Abstract: The last decade has seen explosive growth in artificial intelligence and computational imaging. Regular popular press stories discuss the near-magical potential of turning our data over to the cloud and letting algorithms figure out what it all means. While we have seen clear innovations in some areas of society (e.g., self-driving cars, vacuum cleaners), artificial intelligence remains out of reach at the point of care for radiology. First, we will present recent innovations with brain and abdomen segmentation. Second, we will cover the core capabilities of the VUIIS Center for Computational Imaging. Finally, we will discuss emerging community standards for validation and dissemination.
