The conference is funded by the Chiang-ching Kuo Foundation, and is co-hosted by the U. of I. Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies, and the Program in Medieval Studies.

Sessions will take place on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Over the course of two days there will be eight panels, featuring speakers from numerous prestigious universities in the U.S., Canada, Asia and Europe.  All but two of the conference papers cover China's medieval periods. The end product of the conference will be published by Columbia University Press as a course text for advanced undergraduates and graduate students, according to Zong-qi Cai, professor of East Asian languages and cultures at U. of I.
