Did you know that Champaign County is home to 24,000 immigrants from nearly 80 countries around the world? Starting a new life in a new place can be challenging for anyone. For recent immigrants, this can be even harder. New immigrants in our community face unique challenges of studying, working, and raising families while also learning a new language and culture.
We want to address these challenges by developing a community-wide welcoming plan. We believe we are strongest when each member of our community can navigate basic health and human services, has access to educational and economic opportunities, and has meaningful ways to contribute to our community.
In an effort to address these challenges, EnterpriseWorks and the University of Illinois YMCA New American Initiative are co-sponsoring an art exhibit showcasing the art work of local immigrants and refugees. Join us in the Atrium of the EnterpriseWorks building from 9am to 5pm to enjoy this inspring curation of art.
