Professor Sally Engle Merry present her scholarship related to the theme of law, governance, and transnationalism. She will also participate in the ongoing activities of graduate students and faculty participants of “Cultures of Law in Global Contexts” and Anthropology lecture series.

Sally Engle Merry, Professor of Anthropology and Law and Society Law at New York University, is a well?known scholar in anthropology, law and the humanities who has written widely on human rights, colonialism, transnationalism, gender and race, US, Pacific and Asia/Pacific region, forms of governance and audit culture. She is the author of multiple books including the prize winning, Human Rights and Gender Violence: Translating International Law into Local Justice (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2006).
