The Smoke-Free Campus Initiative takes place in November of 2013. Michele Guerra, Director of the UI Wellness Center, is coordinating the effort, and will assist you in understanding the policy as well as the effect it will have across campus. Michele is ready to listen to your concerns and answer questions such as:
From a Supervisor’s Point of View:
What exactly is the policy?
What should I tell my employees about the new policy?
Who will be responsible for enforcing the new policy?
How can I help employees who are anxious or need help adapting to the new policy?
What kinds of resources will be available for employees who want to quit smoking?
From an Employee’s Point of View:
Will I be able to smoke anywhere on campus?
Will I be able to smoke in my car?
What will happen to me if I choose to smoke on the campus?
How will I get through the day without smoking?
Do I have to stop smoking, even during off hours?
The program is offered twice. When registering, choose which date and location work best for you.
Bring your own lunch. Beverage and snack provided.
Formal remarks begin at 11:45 a.m.
