The Spurlock Movie Club will be hosting a discussion of the film, 'A Thousand Cuts,' as part of our new series, International Activism in Film. The event is held in partnership with the Asian American Cultural Center and will feature Professor Leland Tabares from Asian American Studies at UIUC.

'A Thousand Cuts' portrays an escalating war between the government of the Philippines and the Philippini press. The documentary follows Maria Ressa, a renowned journalist, who becomes a top target of President Rodrigo Duterte's crackdown on the news media. Please watch the film in advance of the discussion.
