Terrell Jermaine Starr will speak at REEEC about the past, the present, and a very uncertain future of Russian-American relations, with a focus on the responsibility journalists have in educating the public, and on how he covers President Donald Trump and Russia through the lens of race.
Starr is a senior reporter at Foxtrot Alpha, a blog that focuses on defense, technology and policy. Prior to that, he worked for FUSION as a national political correspondent covering the 2016 presidential campaign. He lived in Ukraine as a Fulbright fellow and in Georgia as a Peace Corps volunteer. Starr has over four years of experience working in the former Soviet Union and more than eight years working as a reporter. He uses his media skills to break down Russia-U.S. relations in ways that make him not sound like a Washington hack. He is a frequent commentator on MSNBC and a regular contributor to the New York Times and the Washington Post.
