The Learn to Hunt program, in colloboration with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, is hosting a volunteer day at Middle Fork State Fish and Wildlife Area. There will be a mentored squirrel hunt after the volunteer session.
Volunteers will assist the Illinois DNR with the removal of invasive species, and the creation of brushpiles. These brushpiles serve as optimal cover for a wide variety of species, including rabbits.
This is a great opportunity to assist with habitat management practices and meet other new and lifelong hunters.
All equipment will be provided, however, participants may wish to bring pruners, gloves, etc.
