General Schedule

Day 1 (4th)

  • Interactive presentations start at Middle Fork State Fish and Wildlife Area at 8:00 am
  • Lunch scheduled for 1:00 pm (bring own lunch)
  • Target shooting starts at 1:30 pm
  • Question and answer starts at 3:45 pm

Day 2 (5th)

  • Meet at Middle Fork State Fish and Wildlife Area at 8:00 am
  • Field activities begin at 8:15 am
  • Mentored small game or upland bird hunt begins about 11:45 am (lunch in field)
  • Game harvest cooking starts at 2:45 pm
  • Certificates and awards start at 5:00 pm

Notes for participants

  • No FOID card or firearms needed. We will provide you with all the equipment you need to shoot firearms safely and effectively.
  • Dress appropriately for hiking through uneven, potentially wet, wooded terrain and variable weather conditions. Camoflage clothing is encouraged, including a hat, coat and pants.
  • Snacks will be provided, but bring your lunch both days.
  • We encourage you to purchase a Waterfowl Stamp before the workshop. We will show you how to purchase the other licenses and permits you need to hunt.
  • DISCLAIMER: if the weather is bad, we may not hold the target shooting or mentored hunt. But do not worry, we will set you up with a mentor to shoot and hunt with in the future.
