A screening of Sundance Film Festival hit "Mosquita y Mari" and a discussion with the producer and director Aurora Guerrero.

"Mosquita y Mari" is a coming of age film about the growing relationship between two Chicano immigrant young women. The film focuses on the intersectionality of ethnicity, sexuality, gender  and citizenship. This is one of the very few films that focuses on Latina lesbian awareness and complicates the relationship between the two young women by exploring the consequences of privilege and denial of citizenship, as well as the roles for and expectations of young women in Latina/Chicana immigrant communities. It has won a number of awards at independent, international, and LGBT film festivals, and was a featured selection for Sundance.

Aurora Guerrero will also be the guest at Lunch @ La Casa at noon on Thursday, February 7th.

Co-sponsors: SCPF, LGB Latina/o Advisory Committee, Gender and Women's Studies, Latina/Latino Studies, LGBT Resource Center, Women's Resources Center
