NCSA is organizing two hackathons during the Fall 2019 semester to engage students and staff in AI problem solving. There will be four two-hour tutorials prior to each hackathon to train entrants on the HAL compute clusters that will be used for running hackathon code. The hackathons will be full-day events on October 5-6 and November 9-10. Training and hackathons schedule is provided below.
To sign up for training, just request a HAL account prior to the training session and mention "fall training" when describing how the system will be used in your project. The hackathon projects and signup details will be provided later.
8:30am — Teams registration and light breakfast
9:00am — Overview of the Hackathon rules, challenge problems, and a brief intro to HAL computing environment
9:30am — Teams assemble in break-out rooms and start working on the problems
Noon — Lunch (pizza will be provided)
1:00pm — Teams continue to work on the challenge problems (snacks will be provided)
5:00pm — Teams meet in 3013 for a brief status update
8:30am — Teams continue working on the problems (light breakfast will be provided)
4:30pm — Teams present results
Winning teams are announced and presented with prizes
