Elluminate (and the new version of the software known as Blackboard Collaborate), enables online, real-time collaboration between instructors and students from their individual computers. Teaching and learning tools include text chat, voice, video, an interactive digital whiteboard, polling, private Breakout rooms, Application sharing, Web Tour, and other interactive tools. This session will showcase the use of Elluminate in courses such as Political Science, Religious Studies, Social Work, Sociology, English, and African Studies. Uses showcased will include office hours, student study halls, live lecture, recorded lecture, live discussion sections, remote guest speakers, and online student debates. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop, if available, so that the session can become as hands-on as possible.
