People often talk about brain “networks” but it is often unclear what is meant by the term. Network science describes principles by which large numbers of pairwise relationships between brain regions can be illuminated. Examples will be given of descriptions of collections of brain regions into subnetworks or communities, individual differences in community structure, how community structure relates to disease, and how it might be changed through experience.
