Russ' Biography

Russ Wieman is a Partner and Chief Financial officer of Grant Thornton LLP and a member of the firm's national Senior Leadership Team.  He is responsible for the operations of finance and accounting and information technology for the firm.  He has been a member of the firm's national Senior Leadership Team since 2001. Wieman has over 39 years of business experience with the firm and began his public accounting career with the Chicago office of Grant Thornton as a staff accountant in 1973 and was admitted to the partnership in 1986. He has served in a variety of other roles with the firm as the Audit Practice Leader in Chicago, Managing Partner of the Detroit office, the Managing Partner of the Midwest Region and Managing Partner of Audit and Advisory Services. In addition, Russ was elected to the Firm's Executive Committee and served as its Chairman for two years.  In 2010, he was appointed the Chief Financial Officer of the Firm.


In his role as an audit partner, Russ provided auditing and accounting services, reviewing and improving internal control systems and general business consulting for his clients. He is well versed in mergers and acquisitions issues including due diligence.  He is also experienced in working with publicly traded companies, providing auditing and accounting needs and fulfilling SEC requirements, including compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.  Russ has experience serving clients in the manufacturing, retail, technology and financial services industries.

Professional qualifications and memberships:

Russ is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, Illinois CPA Society and the University of Illinois Alumni Association.

Community Service:

During his career, Russ has served many community organizations including Junior Achievement, Detroit Economic Club, Detroit Chamber of Commerce, Walsh College Advisory Board and the DePaul University Accounting Advisory Board.


Russ earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois.

Warren's Biography

Warren is the National Governance, Risk and Compliance Solution Leader and the Market Leader of the Chicago Business Advisory Services Group. He has over 20 years experience working with multi-national, entrepreneurial, and high-growth public companies, including boards of directors and audit committees. Warren brings experience to the business risk consulting and internal audit services areas from both the public accounting firm and industry perspectives. He leads many Sarbanes-Oxley consulting, internal audit services and SAS 70 projects for a wide-array of publicly traded and private businesses with international operations. He has worked extensively with international internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley and business consulting assignments in Europe, Russia, China, Southeast Asia, Central and South America and Canada. He has lectured on governance, risk and compliance.


Warren began his career with Arthur Andersen in the external audit practice and later in the internal audit services practice. Later, he joined DEKALB Genetics Corporation, a $500 million multi-national public company, as the Vice President of Internal Audit and Worldwide Consulting. Subsequent to DEKALB, Warren was a Managing Director at American Express Tax and Business Services and a Partner in the related attest entity of Altschuler, Melvoin & Glasser LLP and worked in the attest and business consulting areas.
