    While today’s growing social and political unrest throughout America may eventually give rise to a new generation of resistance songs, the Sousa Archives’ American Music Month exhibits this year offer signs of hope. Each exhibit shows that through revolutionary exchanges and revolutionary music, we may be able to foster a dialog between contrary viewpoints.

    • Spurlock Museum

    The Illinois State Archaeological Survey and Spurlock Museum open the exhibit Cahokia’s Religion: The Art of Red Goddesses, Black Drink, and the Underworld on January 30. The objects in this exhibit are from Cahokia and nearby sites. They demonstrate the skills and perspectives of this civilization’s artists, farmers, priests, and leaders. The exhibit runs through May 20.

    In honor of 100 years of printing and publishing history, the University of Illinois Press will have a public history display in the North-South Corridor of the Main Library of the Champaign-Urbana campus throughout February 2018.
