The Center for Social & Behavioral Science invites social and behavioral scientists to learn about how they can use the Illinois Federal Statistical Research Data Center (FSRDC) to answer important questions relevant to their research.
April 3rd | 12:00 – 1:00 PM

The Illinois FSRDC on our campus provides access to restricted-use microdata from various federal agencies, which researchers can use to learn about economic and other issues affecting society. Data is available from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Bureau of Economic Analysis, Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Census Bureau, National Center for Health Statistics, and the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics.

Lanwei Yang, economist and administrator at the U.S. Census Bureau, will present on the data and resources available through the FSRDC. Attendees will also hear from Michael Lotspeich Yadao, Research Assistant Professor in Kinesiology and Community Health. Michael has seven years of experience in the FSRDC network and is currently PI of a project looking at how federal agencies can repurpose journey-to-work (commuting) data to define rural food environments. Michael has benefited from using administrative microdata in the FSRDC to strengthen his focus on how community contexts serve as social determinants of health for military-connected communities.
